Accra: The 2023/2024 National Service Personnel of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) have made a significant donation to bolster the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre. The contribution includes essential equipment and renovations aimed at enhancing the educational and sanitary facilities of the center. According to Ghana News Agency, the donated items include 10 manual sewing machines and 3 industrial machines, which are intended to advance skills training in sewing and tailoring for PWDs. In addition to the equipment, the service personnel renovated a four-unit washroom facility, improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) conditions, and upgraded the administrative office of the center. At a brief sod-cutting ceremony at the center, Mrs. Dzifa Bampoe, Corporate Communication Manager of GRIDCO, emphasized that the donation aligns with GRIDCO's core values. She highlighted the role of fashion as a means of self-ex pression and empowerment, particularly for those aspiring to become skilled tailors, designers, and entrepreneurs. Mrs. Bampoe expressed optimism that the initiative would not only equip individuals with valuable skills but also instill confidence and creativity. Miss Rosabeth Avio, NSP President of GRIDCO, lauded the institution's support and collaboration, which she believes has positively impacted the community. She expressed hope that the new facilities and equipment would mark the beginning of providing resources, hope, and opportunity for those at the center. Mr. Seth Dzidzornu, Manager of the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, expressed gratitude to GRIDCO and the personnel for their contributions. He assured them of the effective use and maintenance of the facilities, committing to ensuring that students benefit from the new resources.
