President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed announced at a ceremony held Thursday afternoon at the residence of the Tunisian ambassador in Brussels the installation of the Group of Friends of Tunisia in the European Parliament.
This group includes MEPs representing various political blocs.
“The role of the parliament is of great importance in the European decision-making process, especially on budgetary and migration issues,” said the Head of State said before an audience of MEPs.
Fabio Massimo Castaldo, Vice-President of the European Parliament and coordinator of the Tunisia-European Parliament friendship group, this action aims to drive joint initiatives and to bring together views on several issues of political, economic and social in the interest of both parties.
“The European Parliament has today become closer to Tunisia,” the MEP told TAP, adding many MEPs rely on this group to defend the political and economic interests of both parties during regional and international events.
