GTA Opens Event Proposals for ‘December in GH’

Accra: The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has opened calls for event proposals for the 2025 edition of ‘December in GH.’ Held during the festive season, December in GH offers a month-long series of carefully planned events in music, fashion, art, culture, and nightlife, attracting thousands globally, including Ghanaian and historical diaspora returning to connect with their heritage.

According to Ghana News Agency, aligned with the Black Star Experience, Ghana’s premier tourism initiative, December in GH positions the country as a top destination for culture, heritage, and entertainment. ‘December in GH is more than a festive celebration; it is a movement showcasing Ghana’s vibrant spirit to the world,’ said Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer of GTA.

‘As we embrace the Black Star Experience, we are preparing for our biggest December yet and look forward to innovative events that will elevate Ghana as a leading destination for culture, entertainment, and heritage tourism,’ she added. Mrs. Houadjeto invited event organisers, promoters, and cultural curators to submit proposals for events scheduled from December 1, 2025, to January 3, 2026.

‘Interested parties must submit detailed event proposals by Monday, June 16, 2025. A selection committee will review all submissions to ensure high-quality events reflecting Ghana’s creativity, hospitality, and global appeal. Selected events will feature on the official December in GH 2025 calendar, launching later this year,’ she said.

Ms. Annabelle McKenzie, Director of the International Affairs Secretariat, Coordinators of the programme, described the call for proposals as a pivotal moment. ‘We are excited to work with event organisers bringing fresh ideas and energy to December in GH. It is a time when the global diaspora comes home to experience Ghana’s culture, warmth, entertainment, food, and welcoming spirit.’

She said this year would have an even greater impact as Ghana invites the world to join the Black Star Experience, encouraging stakeholders to be part of the transformative journey. The December in GH campaign continues to boost tourism, strengthen cultural industries, and reinforce Ghana’s reputation as the gateway to Africa.
