GWL Customers in Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions Accumulate Over GH?10 Million Debt

Sunyani: Customers of the Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions owe the company outstanding bills exceeding GH?10 million, according to Mr. Theophilus Collins, the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Chief Manager of GWL. The company is undertaking a recovery exercise to retrieve the arrears, which is expected to conclude by the end of the year.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Collins addressed a forum marking the 2025 Customer Service Week celebration of GWL in Sunyani. The event was held under the theme, 'Mission Possible: Together We Serve, Together We Thrive.' He stated that customers who fail to pay their bills would face disconnection. While GWL remains committed to customer satisfaction, innovation, and accountability, non-paying customers will be denied water supply to their homes and workplaces.

Mr. Collins mentioned that GWL is investing in infrastructure, digital solutions, and customer engagement to improve the reliability and accessibility of water services. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, empathy, and excellence among its personnel.

Mr. Patrick Antwi, the Bono Regional Manager of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), commended GWL's service delivery, noting that customer complaints against the company have been relatively low. He clarified that most complaints are related to water flow issues, which are not always directly attributable to the service provider.

Mr. Antwi also praised GWL for adopting electronic transactions and paperless billing systems, describing these as impressive steps toward modern utility service provision. He urged the company's personnel to value customer feedback, emphasizing that it is important to consumers experiencing challenges.
