Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party Hamma Hammami said at a rally organised by supporters of his party in front of the Municipal Theater in Tunis Saturday there will be no return to the “rotten” system of Ennahdha that has destroyed the country over the last ten years, adding his party will not accept the “populist and authoritarian” system of President Kais Saied.
Hamma Hammami told TAP supporters of his party decided to take to the streets to brandish the following slogans: “No populism, no Muslim brothers, popular democracy is the solution.
He called for an alternative to the continued suffering of the people after the revolution, which buried their dreams of dignity, according to him.
Hammami said the Ennahdha movement, which was in power with its allies, «has turned its back on the revolution and the aspirations of the Tunisian people, destroyed state institutions and significantly contributed to the collapse of all societal values, causing popular anger against this political formation.»
He added that «Tunisia, after July 25, moved from a system of corruption with the Ennahdha movement, to a populist and authoritarian system led by Kais Saied. ”
The “populist” policy of the President of the Republic may jeopardize the country’s sovereignty and its independent decision, Hamma Hammami pointed out.
