Carthage: President of the Republic Kais Saied met on Wednesday afternoon in Carthage with Minister of Cultural Affairs Amina Srarfi. The Head of State placed emphasis on the role of the National Institute of Heritage (INP) and the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC) in protecting the country's archaeological, historical, and civilisational heritage. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, this meeting follows a visit by President Saied to the suburbs of Sidi Bou Said, where he assessed the damage caused by recent downpours that led to several landslides. The President underscored the importance of safeguarding the nation's cultural assets, particularly in light of the natural challenges that threaten historical sites. The President's discussions with Minister Srarfi focused on enhancing the capabilities of the INP and AMVPPC to respond effectively to such challenges. The emphasis was on developing strategies to better preserve the country's rich heritage, which is seen as a critical component of national identity and history.
