Head of State holds talks with Egyptian President on sidelines of 28th Arab Summit

Special Correspondent Houda Hammami) – President Beji Caid Essebsi met on Wednesday afternoon with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on the sidelines of the 28th Arab Summit near the Dead Sea in Jordan.

During the meeting, President Caid Essebsi welcomed the dynamism of bilateral co-operation which, in his view, should be given more impetus, Minister Delegate to the Presidency of the Republic Abdelkrim El Hirmi told TAP.

The Head of State invited his Egyptian counterpart to make a visit to Tunisia in the near future, according to the same source.

Caid Essebsi also welcomed Egypt’s efforts in the service of Arab causes. He cited, in this regard, its role with the Libyan protagonists in promoting dialogue and emphasised the importance of co-ordinated action between Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria to find a quick and consensual solution to this crisis.

President al-Sisi said he was satisfied with the level of Tunisian-Egyptian co-operation and expressed his concern to promote it, in particular in the security field.

The Egyptian president also spoke about the Libyan conflict and reiterated his country’s support for the Tunisian initiative to find a negotiated political solution to the crisis, affirming Egypt’s support for efforts to promote dialogue Between the Libyan protagonists.
