Tunis: Nineteen out of 24 governorates were placed under orange weather alert on Monday by the National Institute of Meteorology (French: INM) due to the high temperatures forecast. A yellow weather alert was also issued for the remaining governorates, namely Greater Tunis, Bizerte, Nabeul, Mahdia, and Kasserine. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, this heatwave poses a particular risk to the elderly, people with chronic illnesses or mental health conditions, and those who take medication regularly. Sports enthusiasts and people working outdoors should also be wary of dehydration and heatstroke. Particular attention should also be paid to children, the INM said.
