(TAP) – Fifteen agreements in the fields of research, higher education, education, film, waste management, support for investment and space, were signed by French and Tunisian operators, on the holding on June 3 in Tunis of the 3rd Franco-Tunisian High Council for Co-operation, chaired by Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and French Prime Minister Jean Castex.
According to a statement issued by France’s Embassy in Tunis Friday, “these fifteen agreements, besides the six agreements signed at the Prime Ministry, in the presence of Mr. Castex and Mechichi, mark the commitment of France and Tunisia to deepen their partnership in all areas.
Research and Higher Education: 5 agreements
1- Agreement on the creation of the International Mixed Laboratory “BIOTEC_H2, for the production and storage of biohydrogen and methane through the recovery of fermentable food by-products
Created for a period of 5 years, the International Joint Laboratory “BIOTEC_H2” aims to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of an energy-producing bio-process from organic waste of the Tunisian markets, in order to build an industrial biohydrogen production chain in Tunisia.
2- Agreement on the renewal of the International Joint Laboratory “COSYS-MED: Contaminants and Marine Ecosystems South Mediterranean.
Created in April 2014 for an initial period of 5 years, the International Joint Laboratory (LMI) “COSYS-MED” is a partnership structure of research and training, aiming to better understand the interactions between contaminants and marine ecosystems and to propose tools for decision support and remediation, with a view to establishing a Reference Center in Marine Environment in Tunisia.
3-International framework agreement of cooperation between the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon and the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of the University of Carthage.
4-International framework agreement of cooperation between the National Institute of Applied Sciences-Centre Val de Loire and the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of the University of Carthage.
5 – International framework agreement of cooperation between the National Institute of Applied Sciences – Hauts de France and the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of the University of Carthage.
The French Embassy said the signing of this framework agreement shows INSAT’s commitment to establish long-term scientific and academic partnerships with the French network of INSA.
Cinema: 2 agreements
6- Support agreement of the French National Cinema Center (CNC) to the Manarat festival. This agreement will allow the French CNC to provide financial support to the Manarat association for the conduct of its activities, including the organization of the third edition of the Mediterranean Film Festival of Tunisia scheduled from July 24 to 30.
7- Framework agreement of cooperation between the National Center of Cinema (CNC) in France and the National Center of Cinema and Image (CNCI) in Tunisia, over the next three years.
This agreement strengthens cooperation between the two centers, particularly in the fields of initial training, image education and cultural events, institutional exchanges for the professionalization of the film and audiovisual sector, conservation of film heritage, and co-production, digital creation and distribution of works.
Education: 5 agreements
8- Signing of a joint letter of partnership between the two General Inspectorates of Education. The purpose of this letter is to establish a lasting partnership between the Inspectorates General. A joint work program will be established in order to share views on the governance of education systems, on the professional skills of the different actors as well as on the challenges to be met in the field of education.
9 – Signing of a partnership agreement between the training center for education personnel (CENAFOP), the international center for training of trainers and pedagogical innovation (CIFFIP) in Tunisia, the Institute of Higher Education and Training (IH2EF) in France and the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the French Embassy.
The objective is to set up a partnership between the different training structures to support the joint development of the skills of education executives, particularly with regard to governance, the management of education systems and training engineering.
10 – Signing of an agreement between the National Center for Pedagogy in Tunisia (CNP), the Directorate General of Programs and Continuing Education, Réseau Canopé and the SCAC.
The project focuses on analysing the needs of education personnel and defining an editorial strategy for the creation of digital resources for teaching. Joint work on the production of digital resources may also be undertaken.
11-Signing of an agreement between the French public interest grouping PIX, the National Center for Educational Technologies (CNTE) and the SCAC on the development and certification of digital skills of Tunisian teachers.
The project provides for an experimentation of the use of the PIX platform to respond to the needs expressed by the CNTE, in order to develop and certify the digital competences of the teachers and the inspectors of education. It is also a question, of allowing the CNTE and the GIP PIX, to determine the conditions of success of a perennial partnership in particular to consider the installation of a common project of construction of a version of PIX in Arabic language.
12-Signing of an agreement relating to the reinforcement of the competences of the future teachers of the primary school and to the support of the quality of their initial training.
The project concerns the development of educational, scientific, administrative and cultural cooperation activities that contribute to the development of linguistic, didactic and pedagogical skills of the students of the Bachelor’s degree in Education and Teaching.
Investments, waste management, space: 3 agreements
13 – Agreement to support long-term partnership and investment projects in Tunisia in key and priority sectors.
For the French Embassy, the agreement between FIPA and Business France is part of the presidential commitment to facilitate investment and strengthen business relations between the two countries. It also provides for strengthening cooperation related to investment activities, facilitating contacts between the business community, information exchange, digital communication and operational collaboration on major events (Francophone Summit 2021).
14 – MoUs on granting a FASEP (Fonds d’études et d’aides au secteur privé) subsidy in the field of waste management to the commune of Mégrine.
The objective of this project is to create a collection, sorting and recycling of PET plastic bottles in the municipality of Mégrine. It should serve as a pilot for a structuring of this sector at national level in Tunisia.
15-HEMERIA-TELNET partnership agreement in the field of nano-satellite constellations, relating to the development of industrial cooperation for the provision of nano-satellite constellations, for connectivity and earth observation, which will be sealed in the future by a joint venture.
