Higher education: four minutes inked at closure of Tunisian-Algerian partnership conference

Four minutes were signed at the closure of the Tunisian-Algerian Higher Education and Scientific Research Partnership Conference (March 21-22), the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry said on Tuesday night in a press release.

This includes the minutes of the special committee of Ibn Rashik programme for student

exchange and mobility between higher education and sicentific research institutions, the ones of the Joint Technical committee for Cooperation in research and innovation and the Special Committee of the Conference of University Presidents and the minutes of the 5+5 group committee, in addition to the final minutes of the conference.

Co-charing the closing event of the conference with his Algerian counterpart Abdelbaki Benziane, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Moncef Boukthir commended transition from cooperation to partnership. This reflects deep ties binding the two countries, he added.

The partnership conference offered the opportunity to take stock of the convergence of views with the Algerian minister, said Boukthir. Partnership in the higher education and scientific research could pave the way for stronger cooperation in other fields.

The minister also said Tunisia is committed to implementing the results of the conference. A well-defined schedule will be put in place in a bid to overcome difficulties.

The Algerian minister laid emphasis on the importance of the constructive proposals brought forward at the meeting. He likewise hailed the comprehensive and qualitative assessement made by Tunisia in this area of cooperation which, he said, will contribute to boosting cooperation.

He urged universities and research institutions in Tunisia and Algeria to spare no effort to implement the recommendations of the conference.

The closing ceremony was attended by Algeria’s Ambassador to Tunisia Azouz Baallal.
