A highway patrol officer was fatally hit by a lorry early Tuesday while on duty on the Tunis-Sousse highway at the level of Turki.

Six passengers, who were on board of other trucks parked at the same checkpoint, were slightly injured, a source from the Nabeul National Guard told TAP. All of the wounded had checked out of the hospital after receiving the necessary medical care, the same source added.

The lorry’s driver might have fallen asleep while driving, the source explained pending further investigation.
