HPR: Draft organic law on Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Authority passed

The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) adopted on Wednesday evening the draft organic law on the Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Authority by 116 votes, 10 against and 5 abstentions.

The 67 clauses of the bill were approved after the rejection of most of the proposed amendments, including those relating to the extension of the prerogatives of the Authority.

The MPs voted on both prerogatives, 19 and 20, after they were rejected in a first vote on Wednesday morning.

The National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC), chaired by Chawki Tabib, last Wednesday called for a general commitment to draft an organic law for the establishment of an independent Authority of good governance and Anti-Corruption that would have effective prerogatives to ensure a proper balance between the powers.
