HPR starts examination of Startup bill

The House of Peoples Representatives (HPR) began on Monday the examination of the Startup bill on the promotion of start-ups that aims to develop the legal and financial framework governing the activity of young innovative companies in the sector of new technologies.

Indeed, this bill passed by the parliamentary committee of Industry before being discussed in plenary session with attendance of the Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, Mohamed Anouar Maarouf.

According to the chairman of the Industry Committee, Ameur Laarayedh, the bill aims to create businesses in Tunisia under the project “Digital Tunisia”.

The Startup bill provides for incentives to young innovators who want to embark on the creation of a startup in the field of new technologies and obtain the startup label.

It is one of the four main axes of the national strategy “Digital Tunisia 2020”. Among its objectives: to iron out the difficulties and administrative obstacles to investments in new technologies, create wealth, generate employment, give hope to young people and make Tunisia a start-up centre in the southern Mediterranean region.
