I Watch launches “Citizen Facilitator” initiative

The I Watch organisation launched the “Citizen Facilitator” initiative in the municipalities of La Marsa, Douar Hicher, Ettadhamen, Mhamdia, Hammam Chatt, Ariana, Bardo and Tebourba, in a bid to encourage citizens and civil society to participate in public affairs.

I Watch said in a statement that this project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to involve citizens and to reinforce their role in local decision-making in the above-mentioned municipalities, adding that the participants will receive a 3-day training during the first half of October at the organisation’s seat.

The programme of this initiative, explains the organisation, includes three main activities. The first is the participation of citizens in writing press articles on the concerns of their regions, which will be published by I Watch.

The second activity is the follow-up at the local level of the different regions concerned by this initiative. This involves attending municipal councils and monitoring the implementation of recommendations and election promises in the target regions.

The third activity aims at societal leadership so that participants, in coordination with I watch, conduct awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to participate in public affairs.

I watch pointed out that citizens wishing to participate in this initiative should fill in a form available on its Facebook page.
