“I will demonstrate to IMF security challenges facing Tunisia,” says Claudia Roth

Claudia Roth, vice-president of the German Bundestag, said she will demonstrate to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the security challenges facing Tunisia by mobilising a large part of its budget to ensure security and stability to have hosted over one million 400 thousand Libyans, “which represents a great security challenge”.

In a statement made after a meeting with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed Monday afternoon, the German leader, member of the environmental party of Alliance 90 (The Greens), praised the Tunisian democratic experience, “cited as an example in a difficult area,” and stressed the willingness of the German parliament “to provide support and assistance to this experience,” said a statement of the Prime Ministry, citing Claudia Roth.

She said that the next municipal elections in the coming months “will consolidate the democratic experience, change the political system in Tunisia and help strengthen bilateral relations by developing twinning links between Tunisian and German cities”.

Claudia Roth also highlighted Tunisia’s evolution in terms of freedoms, including freedom of expression and press, stressing that this advance “requires supporting this experience by motivating tourists to visit Tunisia and explore what it enjoys in terms of freedom, “says the same source.
