Rabat – The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) will hold, on March 23 at its headquarters in Rabat, an international celebration by videoconference on the occasion of the World Poetry Day, under the theme “Poets, Wings of Peace”, an expression of the importance it gives to poetry as a universal language.
Organized in cooperation with the Academy of Arabic Poetry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this major event will see a high-level international participation of institutions interested in poetry, as well as eminent poets and scholars in the field, to discuss the poetic institutions and women’s and world poetry, says ICESCO in a statement.
During the opening session of this event, according to the same source, a speech will be delivered by the guest of honor, Mohamed Benaissa, president of the International Festival of Asilah, and another of the Academy of Arabic Poetry, as well as a poetic recitation of the Director General of ICESCO, Salem Ben Mohamed Al-Malik, and of the poet Mohammed Achaari, winner of the International Poetry Award Argana 2020.
The three sessions of this international event will be marked by the presence of several poets and artists representing Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Pakistan, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Oman and Mauritania.
