One hundred and fifty-seven Tunisian and sub-Saharan undocumented migrants were rescued as Coast Guard patrols in Nabeul, Sfax, Kerkennah and Sousse thwarted attemped crossings, said spokesman for the National Guard Houssem Eddine Jebabli.
Jebabli said four attempts were foiled on Monday night in Sfax, Kerkennah, Sousse and Nabeul. 105 Tunisian nationals were rescued as water leaked into their boats.
Fifty-two African crossers were rescued on June 1 by navy patrols in Sfax and Jebeniana after their Italy-bound boasts sank.
