IMF team and Tunisian authorities start virtual discussions

Discussions between a team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Tunisian authorities started, remotely, on Monday, at 2:00 pm, an official source told TAP news agency.

A team of the IMF’s staff is conducting a virtual “staff visit” to Tunisia from February 14 to 22, 2022, to continue discussions with the Tunisian authorities on the set of reforms that will be engaged, soon, in anticipation of the launch of a new financial support programme.

This first high-level meeting was attended on the Tunisian side by Minister of Finance, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Said and Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia Marouane Abbassi, according to the same source.

Tunisia is preparing to launch new negotiations with the IMF to seal a new programme and raise needed funds to complete its 2022 budget.
