SEKONDI — The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has officially inaugurated the Local/Sub-Regional Organizing Committee (LOC) tasked with the execution of the 2023 National Farmers Day, to be held in Tarkwa on December 1. The celebration, marking its 39th year, carries the theme 'Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience'.
According to Ghana News Agency, The committee's mandate, as stated by sources within the Ministry, is to collaborate closely with the National Committee, ensuring the event's successful planning and organization. The LOC will play a pivotal role in acknowledging the contributions of Ghanaian farmers to national development. To maintain accountability and ensure smooth preparations, the committee will submit weekly reports on its activities. The Western Regional Minister leads the committee, supported by deputies including the Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council and the Tarkwa Municipal Director of Agriculture. Their responsibilities encompass logistics, publicity, security, and the management of the event venue and welfare, among other areas.
