Accra: Ghana has welcomed Indian travel influencer and motographer, Mr. Sundeep Gajjar, for a four-day tour of the country's cultural and historical landmarks. This forms part of a strategic tourism promotion initiative under the Government's flagship Black Star Experience.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with Hooked-On-ENT, welcomed the internationally acclaimed travel influencer for the tour, which began on May 7 and will end on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The initiative aims to harness the global reach of digital content creators to showcase Ghana's rich tourism potential.
At a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, Mrs. Efua Houadjeto, the Chief Executive Officer of GTA, highlighted the visit as a unique opportunity to showcase Ghana's rich heritage to the world and promote the country as a leading tourism destination. She noted that the initiative, also partnered by Arash Motors TVS, was a testament to the GTA's commitment to modernizing Ghana's tourism. The influencer's content is expected to reach millions worldwide, encouraging international travelers to explore Ghana's cultural wealth.
Mr. Gajjar expressed his feelings about visiting Ghana, drawing parallels between India and Ghana's post-colonial histories. He remarked that coming to Ghana reminded him of India, noting the warmth and connection he felt with the people and culture. He appreciated the freedom of expression in Africa and shared his intention to capture the soul of Ghana through his travels and showcase it to the world.
Mr. Mike Oquaye Jr., former High Commissioner to India and Board member of the Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC), applauded the visit as a form of 'creative diplomacy.' He emphasized that diplomacy involves cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections, and commended Mr. Gajjar and TVS for fostering cultural ties between India and Ghana.
Brand Strategist of Hooked-On-ENT, Ms. Daria Hookfin, and CEO of Arash Motors TVS Ltd, Mr. Dharamveer Singh Shekhawat, were present to support the initiative. During his tour, Mr. Gajjar visited notable landmarks such as the National Theatre, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and Independence Square, among others. He plans to visit additional sites, including the Aburi Botanical Garden and Tetteh Quashie Cocoa Farm.
Ghana's celebrated biker, Mr. Meek Mill, will join Mr. Gajjar in exploring the country, offering the world a front-row seat to Ghana's beauty and warmth.
