INSAT students organise 13th edition of IEEE R8 SYP international conference

The thirteenth edition of the international congress of the international professional association, “IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professional” (R8 SYP 2022) will be held from August 3 to 7, 2022, in Tunis, and will bring together members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) from all of Region 8 (Europe, Africa and the Middle East), announced the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of Tunis.

More than 250 students and young professionals from 40 member countries are expected to attend this conference which is organised by the Student Branch of INSAT, in collaboration with IEEE Region 8 and IEEE Tunisia Section. The opening ceremony of this conference will be held at the Theater of Regions of the City of Culture, says INSAT.

R8 SYP is a conference held every two years, and is an opportunity for IEEE members of the Region 8 grouping Europe, Africa and the Middle East to meet and exchange around the latest innovations and discoveries in the technological environment. The main objective of SYP is to improve the engineering skills of students and young professionals through various technical and cultural activities and to provide them with the opportunity to network.

The last edition of this congress was held two years ago online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the last face-to-face edition was in 2018 and took place in Porto, Portugal. SYP 2022 will be the first edition to be held after the pandemic, and the first organised in Africa in 20 years, according to INSAT.

The IEEE, or the “Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,” is a professional association that aims to develop technology for the benefit of humanity, according to its website.
