International Day for Abolition of Slavery: Tunisia to step up efforts to combat irregular migration and organised crime

(TAP) – Tunisia stressed on Friday the importance of increasing efforts to combat irregular migration and organised crime, as well as adopting a participatory approach based on human rights and solidarity development to prevent human trafficking crimes and ensure necessary care for victims.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad affirmed in a statement issued on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, celebrated on December 2 each year, the importance of establishing approaches that fight against impunity.

 

The objective is to build societies based on the values of tolerance, respect and human dignity.

 

The Ministry stressed its commitment to combat all forms of slavery, human trafficking and organised crime. It affirmed Tunisia’s commitment to further its experience by developing legislation to fight crimes, slavery and racism, the same source indicated.
