Investigation Launched into Fatal Blasting Incident at Buduburam on Kasoa-Winneba Road Project

Accra: The Ministry of Roads and Highways has initiated a thorough investigation into a recent blasting accident at the Buduburam site of the Kasoa-Winneba dualization project, which resulted in several casualties. According to Ghana News Agency, the ministry has partnered with the Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to ascertain the cause of the incident and evaluate the extent of casualties and injuries sustained. The statement, issued by Nasir Ahmed Yartey, Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, emphasized that this inquiry aims to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future. The recent accident marks a significant disruption in what has been a series of controlled blasts; prior to this incident, the contractor had successfully conducted 21 controlled explosions at the site without any issues, in collaboration with NADMO and the Ghana Police Service. These measures were part of the safety protocols intended to minimize risk during the road expa nsion project. The Ministry has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery for all those injured. It has also committed to maintaining transparency with the public by sharing the outcomes of the investigation once concluded.
