Spokesman for the Tunis Court of Appeal Habib Torkhani announced that an investigation has been initiated against former President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC) Chawki Tabib, following a complaint filed by the company VIVAN, related to facts of “suspected fraud and use of forgery.”
He said that the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal had ordered on Thursday, the Public Prosecutor of the Tunis Court of First Instance to initiate this investigation.
Torkhani stated to TAP that the suspicion in question regards the content of the INLUCC report on the alleged conflict of interest related to former Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh as well as the transaction concluded with the National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED).
He added that the request to sue Chawki Tabib had been filed with the Court of Appeal on July 19, 2021.
Torkhani also indicated that another investigation has been initiated against Chawki Tabib regarding a complaint filed on July 19, 2021 by the Observatory of Transparency and Good Governance for “financial and administrative mismanagement of the authority during Tabib’s mandate.”
The spokesman indicated in another connection, that the Public Prosecutor has also opened on Thursday, an investigation following a complaint filed by the Union of the Presidential Guard and the Tunis Cartage Airport research brigade against lawyer and MP Seifeddine Makhlouf and lawyer Mehdi Zagrouba regarding the Tunis Carthage Airport incident on March 15.
Torkhani stated that another investigation has been launched on Thursday regarding the complaint filed by former member of the Truth and Dignity Commission (IVD) Ibtihel Abdellatif against IVD Arbitration and Reconciliation Committee Chairman Khaled Krichi (lawyer and MP), Mabrouk Korchid (lawyer, MP and former Minister of State Property and Land Affairs) and lawyer Samah Khamessi on suspicion of manipulating a reconciliation file and concluding an arbitration agreement for the benefit of Lazhar Sta.
He added that the applications for legal action against the abovementioned lawyers had been filed with the Court of Appeal on July 19.
