The Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) is “fully prepared” for the forthcoming elections set for 2022, said ISIE member Mohamed Tlili Mansri.
ISIE has the necessary human resources and required logistics to organise these elections, he stated to TAP.
The issue of vacancy in the ISIE’s council poses no problems as the quorum has been reached, he added.
Mansri further affirmed that the law allows the council members to continue working pending its renewal.
During the meeting of the ISIE council, the members entrusted the authority’s executive management with the task of drawing up the calendar of the next electoral events.
These include the elections of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary in October 2022, the referendum (July 2022) and the legislative elections (December 2022), he specified.
Mansri also pointed out that the ISIE will shortly send a correspondence to the Presidency of the Republic on whether maintaining the current 2014 Election Law or drafting a new legal framework for the next elections.
As for the financial resources, Mansri indicated that another correspondence will be sent to the Prime Ministry and the Finance Ministry on the need to raise extra funds to finance the next elections.
