ISIE mission ends on June 13, date of proclamation of municipal elections’ final results (Anis Jarbouii)

(TAP)- The final results of the municipal elections will be proclaimed on June 13, date on which the mission of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) will come to an end, said ISIE member Anis jarbouii.

This date will also be marked by the power handover of the special delegations to the elected councils, he explained.

He added in a statement to TAP, that after the announcement of the preliminary results the electoral process will step into the stage of appeals in compliance with article 145 of the electoral code.

“The preliminary results of the elections and the referendum may be appealed to the Administrative Court of Appeal within a maximum of three days from the date of their display at the ISIE headquarters.” In this regard, Jarbouii called the administrative court to take into account that the beginning of the appeal period coincides with a weekend.

The process of appeals can last for 28 days as of the date of their submission, he explained, affirming the authority’s commitment to respect all the administrative court’s decisions.

Speaking about the elections of the municipal councils’ presidents, Jarbouii specified that this mission is not within the jurisdiction of ISIE in so far as the electoral code stipulates that the council’s president is elected by the members by means of a free, secret, honest and transparent ballot at the absolute majority of votes.

As regards, the elections in the Mdhilla municipality, suspended due to some organisational failures and acts of trouble around the polling station, Anis Jarbouii asserted that no official date has been set yet, not ruling out the possibility of organising them on May 20.
