The elections calendar for the municipal by-elections in Sbikha, Kairouan has been suspended, in light of the current health situation in the region and the full lockdown measures announced by the authorities.
According to the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), the application of the elections calendar for the municipal by-elections in Sbikha is suspended from midnight on Sunday, June 20.
The process will be resumed once the health measures are fully lifted, the ISIE pointed out.
The ISIE council will then communicate a new calendar setting the dates of the election, the electoral campaign, filing candidacies and the electoral silence.
This decision was taken after governor of Kairouan Mohamed Bourguiba, on Sunday, decreed a full lockdown, in the wake of the deteriorating epidemic situation.
The applications for registration on the electoral lists, already received at the Kairouan ISIE office, will be accepted.
The municipal by-elections in Sbikha were scheduled for August 14 and 15.
