Jachie: The Jachie Central Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church has celebrated its 90th anniversary with a grand ceremony, marking nine decades of faith, service, and contributions to the community. The event brought together a cross-section of society, including traditional leaders, government officials, clergy, business executives, church members, and residents from across the region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the celebration served as a platform to reflect on the church’s enduring legacy and its pivotal role in moral, educational, health, and social development within Jachie and beyond. Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie, was the special guest of honour. In his address, he called on Ghanaians to uphold the laws, stressing that law and order were essential for maintaining peace, freedom, and societal security. He also reminded the gathering that traditional authorities had rules that protected communal lands and properties.
The chief expressed concern about the increasing indiscipline among the youth, especially on social media platforms, where insults directed at elders and leaders had become rampant. He warned that such behaviour could have grave consequences. Baffour Amoateng further condemned the abuse of hard drugs such as ‘red,’ tramadol, and marijuana, lamenting their role in triggering erratic behavior and a disregard for moral and legal norms.
Pastor Sylvester Opoku Agyemang, District Pastor of the Jachie SDA Church, recounted the church’s achievements over the past 90 years. He highlighted the establishment of schools and educational initiatives as some of the church’s most notable contributions. He unveiled the church’s plans for the future, which include the development of a retreat center to support spiritual growth and fellowship. Pastor Agyemang reaffirmed the church’s commitment to advancing education, healthcare, scholarships, and charitable donations for the benefit of both the local community and the nation at large.
Addressing recent public criticisms of religious institutions, Pastor Agyemang emphasised the SDA Church’s strict adherence to transparency and accountability in the management of church resources. He assured members and the public that funds were judiciously used for developmental and charitable activities that directly impacted lives.
The 90th anniversary celebration stood as a powerful reminder of the Jachie SDA Church’s mission to promote faith, service, and community development. It inspired a renewed commitment among members to uphold the church’s values and vision for generations to come.
