Jaloul calls for need to anchor citizenship discourse to fight terrorism

Director General of the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies, Neji Jaloul, on Saturday, emphasised the need to anchor the discourse of citizenship and to establish a new cultural and social model in order to fight against terrorism and fanaticism.

Speaking at a meeting on “the role of the family in the fight against violence, fanaticism and terrorism” held in Monastir, Jaloul stressed that it was essential to pay more attention to the Tunisian family who plays a fundamental role in the fight against terrorism.

President of the Tunisian Centre for Global Security Studies, Mokhtar Ben Nasser, for his part, stressed the need to establish partnerships between civil society and security institutions, indicating that the family, the school, the university and the media play an important role in societal education.

President of the Tunisian organisation of Education and Family, Mahmoud Mefteh said the meeting is part of a partnership between his organisation, the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies and the Tunisian Center for Global Security Studies.

The goal is to set up a societal education strategy aimed at protecting young people against terrorism.
