Jaou Photo exhibit in Tunis on theme ‘Endless Body’

The art festival Jaou Photo 2022, the first international photo biennial in Tunisia, is expected to be a platform for debate and artistic and cultural dialogue with the participation of nearly 160 photographers and artists from over 45 countries. Organized in Tunis, Sfax and Sousse, under the theme “Endless Body”, this sixth edition will also focus on other genres connected to the body and photography, or dancing, theater, cinema and music.

Jaou Photo will take place on October 6-20, with a program of 15 shows of photos and art videos including one on Italian artist Andrea Benelli, invited by the Italian cultural institute in Tunis. “Jaou Photo is trying to facilitate access to contemporary art, creating at the same time a festive atmosphere for the event”, said Lina Lazaar, president of Kamel Lazaar Foundation (Klf) which organizes the event, adding that “the festival is an invitation to get together and a way of restoring the original meaning of what should be a festival”.

The French institute of Tunisia (Ift), the municipality of Tunis, the Tunisian cultural ministry, the embassies of Switzerland and France in Tunisia, the Italian cultural institute in Tunis, the Goethe Institute and the National office of Tunisian tourism (Ontt), Tunisair and Kmc are among the main partners of this Festival.
