Firefighters, forestry agents and a number of volunteers are battling wildfires that broke out on Sunday afternoon in the delegations of Balta Bou Aouane, Fernana and Ain Draham, Tayeb Dridi, the first delegate of Jendouba, told TAP. The local and regional authorities evacuated dozens of families and their livestock in the delegations of Balta Bou Aouane and Fernana as a precautionary measure, said the head of the civil protection brigade in Bousalem, Chokri Yakoubi. According to the same source, the fires, fanned by strong winds, spread particularly to the localities of Argoub Rayhane and Fernana as well as the locality of Chouaoula in Balta Bou Aouane.
