Over 55 people from Douar El Mella, Bouadila and El Arem were evacuated and placed in educational institutions following the fire that ravaged the forests of Jebel Allam in Fej Hassine in Ghardimaou (Jendouba), the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries said Wednesday.

Seven houses were ravaged by the flames, two of which were completely destroyed, and no human casualties were reported, according to the same source.

The fire started in Algeria before spreading, on July 25, at 2:50 am, to the Essifia area in the delegation of Takrouna, Kef, adding that the flames spread, thereafter, to the forests of Jebel Allam.

The agents of the civil protection and forests went to the scene to bring the fire under control, in coordination with the air force.
