Jerandi/Lemoyne talk: Tunisian-French cooperation reviewed

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi had a talk on Thursday with French Secretary of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie Jean Baptiste Lemoyne, who is on a working visit to Tunisia.

The official’s visit is part of the follow-up of France’s solidarity operation with Tunisia (air and sea bridge) in these exceptional health circumstances, according to the Foreign Affairs Department.

Jerandi voiced thanks to France for the important medical aid it has provided to Tunisia in this sensitive phase, “which testifies to the solid friendship ties binding the two countries and their shared willingness to promote the values of mutual aid and solidarity between peoples, especially in this global health crisis.

Besides, the two officials discussed the consolidation of bilateral relations in all fields, laying emphasis in this regard on the importance of following up the outcome of the 3rd session of the High Council of Tunisian-French Cooperation, held on June 2 in Tunis.

The meeting also offered the opportunity to review the ongoing preparations for the next Francophonie Summit, to be hosted by Djerba on November 20-21.

Jerandi reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to the success of this important event of the Francophonie.

Furthermore, the two sides raised several regional and international issues of mutual interest, in particular the political process in Libya, underlining the need to continue to support the Libyan government of national unity.
