Jerandi speaks ove phone with his Kenyan counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi, on Wednesday, spoke over phone with Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Kenya Raychelle Omamo.

They discussed the development of the situation in Tunisia as well as the bilateral cooperation, said a statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Jerandi stressed that the measures announced by the President of the Republic on July 25 respond to the people’s demands, given the political, economic, social, health and institutional situation in the country.

For her part, Raychelle Omamo expressed her country’s full support for Tunisia at this critical stage, stressing the «full confidence in the Head of State’s ability to manage the country’s internal affairs in a way that guarantees Tunisia’s security and stability and the proper functioning of its institutions.»

«Tunisia is considered a symbol of democracy and modernity in Africa; it is able to meet the challenges and continue to play its crucial and constructive role regionally and internationally,” she said.

President of the Republic Kais Saied, on July 25, invoked Article 80 of the Constitution, dismissing PM, freezing all parliamentary activities for 30 days, and lifting the immunity of all MPs.
