Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi, on Wednesday, held a phone call with Austria’s Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg.

They discussed the developments in Tunisia, following the decisions taken by President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed on July 25, in the context of activating Article 80 of the Constitution, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jerandi informed his Austrian counterpart of the extensive consultations conducted by the Head of State to develop a roadmap for the next stage, stressing that this is an exceptional phase imposed by the economic and social situation in the country.

For his part, the Austrian minister expressed his full confidence in Tunisia’s ability to go through this delicate period and strengthen its democratic process, affirming the willingness of his country to support Tunisia.
