Jhinaoui calls for speeding up procedures to open new consulates in France

Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui called on Sunday in Paris for speeding up procedures to open new consulates in Toulon, Nimes, Bordeaux, Nantes and Lille, with a view to bringing consular services closer to the Tunisian community members in France.

Jhinaoui pointed out at a meeting with the heads of Tunisian consular missions based in France and Tunisia’s ambassador in Paris, the need to improve working methods within consulates, proposing in this regard, to opt for an automated reservation system and pre-scheduled meetings to reduce waiting times and ensure the required efficiency and rapidity of consular services.

Besides, the FM laid emphasis on the importance of the role of Tunisia’s embassy in Paris and consular missions in establishing contacts between MPs of France 1 and France 2 districts and Tunisian community members in France.

In this regard, Jhinaoui invited the heads of consular missions in France to fit out meeting spaces between MPs and the Tunisian community members in France to help the deputies listen to their concerns and convey their demands.

Besides, the meeting offered the occasion to look at means to boost relations between Tunisia’s embassy in Paris and the consular missions on the one hand and the French central and regional authorities in the economic field on the other hand, a Foreign Ministry press release added.

In the same connection, the foreign minister recommended focusing further on strengthening decentralised economic co-operation between the French and Tunisian regions.
