John D.K. Dorgbetor Foundation Renews Commitment to Enhance Education.

Agbogbla: The John D.K. Dorgbetor Foundation has reaffirmed its dedication to improving academic standards at Agbogbla Basic School in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region. Mr Benjamin Dorgbetor, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, pledged his continuous support to bridge the escalating educational gap in the community during an awards ceremony organized by his foundation to celebrate the young talents of the school.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Foundation has a long history of supporting the school, having previously provided a state-of-the-art computer lab, essential furniture for classrooms, educational materials and books, community streetlights, a children’s playground, and annual awards and scholarships to outstanding students. Mr Dorgbetor acknowledged the challenges facing the institution, including inadequate infrastructure and limited resources. Despite these hurdles, the foundation’s support has yielded significant improvements in academic performance.

‘The foundation is com
mitted to empowering the next generation,’ Mr Dorgbetor stated. ‘We believe education is the key to unlocking potential, and we’ll continue to invest in Agbogbla School.’ He noted that the school’s pass rate in the Basic Education Certificate Examination had increased from 12 percent to 65 percent in the past but recently dropped. Mr Dorgbetor expressed concern over the decline and emphasized the need for stakeholders to address the issue. ‘We need to come together to find solutions and ensure our students achieve academic excellence.’ He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, urging parents, teachers, and the community to join forces with the foundation to create a conducive learning environment.

Mr Edward Wilberforce Gbetodeme, representing the South Tongu Ghana Education Service (GES) Directorate, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of the John D.K. Dorgbetor Foundation. He emphasized GES’ commitment to continuing its partnership with the Foundation to achieve shared goals of enha
ncing the school’s academic standards. Mr Gbetodeme encouraged students to seize learning opportunities and strive to become future leaders of Ghana.
