Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the necessity for a unified Arab and Islamic stance to counter unprecedented Israeli measures in Jerusalem, focusing particularly on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Noble Sanctuary. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the King made these remarks at a meeting held at Al-Husseiniya Palace with the Arab Ministerial Committee. The committee is tasked with international action to address illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem. King Abdullah reiterated Jordan's ongoing dedication to its historical and legal responsibility to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, founded on Hashemite custodianship. The meeting was attended by a delegation comprising foreign ministers from Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco. It also included the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, as well as representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia. Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan was present during the discussions. King Abdullah highlighted the risks associated with exploiting regional unrest to alter the status quo in the holy city and warned about the potential broadening of the conflict due to ongoing Israeli escalation in the West Bank. He pointed out attempts to annex lands and expand settlements as contributing factors to the tension. The discussions also underscored the importance of implementing all stages of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip. The meeting was attended by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King's chief advisor for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the Director of the King's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
