President of the Republic Kais Saied received, Saturday in Carthage, diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates Anwar Gargash, who was carrying a written message from President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Saied.

The Head of State pointed to the good relations uniting the two countries, affirming Tunisia’s willingness to raise bilateral relations to higher levels, in the mutual interest of the two peoples, said a Presidency statement.

He expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates and its people for their solidarity with Tunisia in the difficult political and health situation it is undergoing.

He reiterated having taken exceptional measures, within the framework of the Constitution, to uphold the sovereignty of the people and preserve the State and its institutions.

The Emirati diplomat said his country «understands and supports the historic decisions taken by the President of the Republic, and is aware of their importance in preserving the Tunisian state and responding to the will of its people.»

He hailed this momentous moment in Tunisia’s history and expressed his country’s confidence in the Head of State’s ability to «protect the country from any threat», while affirming readiness to support Tunisia.
