Kebili: more than 6 thousand tourists on New Year’s Eve

More than six thousand tourists have chosen to spend the New Year’s Eve in hotels of the Kebili region or under the stars in the heart of the Sahara, in organised excursions.

Most Tunisian visitors booked their stay through the travel agencies, which facilitated their reception logistically, said Regional Tourism Commissioner Mohamed Sayem.

Many Chinese and Filipino tourists have opted for the Saharan tours, he adds in a statement to TAP, noting, also, a remarkable return of traditional European markets, like the German and French markets.

The end of year celebrations coincided with the school holidays and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the International Sahara Festival, which had a positive effect on hotel occupancy rates that could reach 100%.

The outlook for the year 2018 is positive, according to tourism professionals for whom all the indicators confirm the beginning of a recovery of the sector with, in particular, the return of traditional markets.
