Kebili: Youth Awareness Day for upcoming municipal elections

A youth awareness day in the upcoming municipal elections, scheduled for May 6th, took place on Sunday at the Kebili youth centre, under the sign “Let’s all vote”.

This awareness day is organided at the initiative of the Kebili youth centre in collaboration with the regional elections authority and some civil society associations, including the “Mourakiboun” and “Lam Echaml” networks.

In a statement to TAP, Mohamed Khelifa, member of the “Lam Echaml” association, believes that young people feel a deep sense of disillusionment with the election process.

On this occasion, he emphasised the importance of the role of civil society in raising the awareness of young people, calling on them to be mobilise to encourage this social category to vote in municipal elections.

He also urged young people to exercise their rights and to make their voices heard at the regional level, “especially since the elected municipal councils will have the task of drawing the main development orientations of the region”.
