The town of Ellès in the delegation of Sers, governorate of Kef, hosted the first international olive oil festival “El Hilga” on Saturday and Sunday.

Several countries, including Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Palestine took part in the event.

The festival sought to promote the cultural and civilisational wealth of the region as well as its know-how in the production of olive oil, Festival Coordinator Karim Mannai told TAP.

During this first edition of the festival, a rich and varied programme was put forward by the organisers. It included traditional musical performances from participating countries, choreographies given by local riders as well as lectures on olive oil production in the region as well as a tasting fair, the same source said.
