Keta MP Initiates Electricity Extension Project for Rural Communities

Keta: Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region, has announced that work is near completion on a rural electrification project to connect several communities to the national grid. The initiative aims to bring reliable electricity supply to areas that have been without power for years.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gakpey stated that some of the communities benefiting from the electrification project included Anyako-Konu, Kporgui, Akotogbor, Lawoshime, Agornugble Ayidiga, Mamime, Hagodzi, Wonyagor, among others. He emphasized that these communities will soon have access to reliable electricity, which is expected to improve their quality of life.

Pre-commissioning of transformers is about to begin in Anyako-Konu, Kporgui, and Akotogbor, marking a significant milestone in the project and bringing the communities closer to having electricity. Mr. Gakpey reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every community within the Keta municipality benefits from reliable electricity to enhance development.

Mr. Gakpey expressed his appreciation for the engagement with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, which facilitated the extension of power to the areas. He also highlighted his personal procurement of materials for the project, demonstrating his dedication to its success. The project also includes system improvements to stabilize power supply in areas such as Anyako Konu and Anlo-Afiadenyigba, with the installation of a 50kVA transformer to ensure constant power.

Some assembly members and other beneficiary communities engaged by Ghana News Agency shared their excitement over the project, which they believe will significantly impact their communities by enabling access to necessities like lighting and power for homes and businesses. They anticipate that the project will improve their overall quality of life and provide opportunities for economic growth.

GNA also gathered that the goal of the project is to provide reliable electricity to all communities in the Keta Constituency, showcasing the MP's dedication and commitment to improving the lives of constituents and promoting economic development in the area.
