“Kuwait willing to provide necessary financial support for restoration of Zitouna Mosque” (ambassador in Tunis)

Kuwait’s ambassador in Tunis, Ali Ahmad Al-Dhafiri, on Thursday, stressed his country’s willingness to provide all necessary financial support to restore and rehabilitate the Zitouna mosque.

“Kuwait is ready to provide all necessary financial support for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Zitouna mosque, which is one of the most important Islamic monuments in the world,” he said in his meeting with Minister of Religious Affairs, Ahmed Adhoum.

According to a statement from the Religious Affairs Department, the meeting discussed the preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Kuwaiti Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to Tunisia.

The visit will provide an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation between the two departments, particularly in the area of expertise exchange, prevention of terrorism and extremism and religious studies, said Ahmed Adhoum.
