Kuwaiti businessmen interested in PPP projects

A delegation of Kuwaiti businessmen expressed at its meeting Saturday in Carthage with President Beji Caid Essebsi the wish to see Kuwaiti private investment contribute to the development of co-operation between Tunisia and Kuwait through public-private partnership (PPP) projects, said a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

The head of this delegation made up of 13 businessmen operating in the banking, pharmaceutical, real estate and communication, commercial and ICT sectors, Fahd Abdul Rahman El Maajal extended to the Head of State an oral invitation from Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to make a working visit to Kuwait, said the presidency.

For their part, the Kuwaiti businessmen emphasised the interest of the Kuwaiti private sector in Tunisia and their willingness to invest in it and create projects in promising sectors such as telecommunications, banks, small and medium-sized enterprises and hire Tunisian skills.

They proposed the creation of a Tunisian-Kuwaiti business council to ensure the supervision of this co-operation on the basis of respect for mutual interests.

On his side, the President of the Republic affirmed that this kind of initiative is able to create real opportunities, underlining the concern of the country’s authorities to provide favorable conditions for investment.
