Launch of “Second Line School” project

Education Minister Hatem Ben Salem announced on Friday the launch of a project called “The Second Line School,” aimed at developing the student’s communication and persuasion skills and introduce him to speech techniques.

During a regional council of education in Jendouba, he explained that the objective of this project which will initially target three schools including one in Jendouba, is to prepare the pupil to enter the labour market through cultural and sports activities.

He also acknowledged that the infrastructure situation of educational institutions is “disastrous,” indicating that 4,500 out of 6,000 schools need to be rehabilitated.

He said that the rehabilitation works of these institutions are estimated at 270 million dinars, specifying that a Cabinet meeting will be dedicated soon to the education system in Tunisia.

Participants in the meeting raised for their part, a number of issues affecting the institutions in the region, citing the lack of drinking water, the dilapidated buildings and the deterioration of roads leading to the majority of primary schools whose number is estimated at 231.
