League of Tunisian Women Voters organises training programme ahead of municipal elections

The League of Tunisian Women Voters (French: LET) is organising a training programme that targets female voters and candidates at May 6 municipal elections.

The training sessions, part of endeavours to increase women’s participation in political life, are intended to raise awareness about the importance of the organic law related to the elimination of violence against women and face up to political violence against women as well as gender discrimination.

A first training session was held in Tunis; other sessions will be organised shortly in the governorates of Nabeul, Medenine and Jendouba, LET Tuesday said in a press release.

The League started training 150 observers ahead of the upcoming municipal elections and published an election observation handbook.
