League of Tunisian Women Voters to organise training sessions for municipal election candidates
The League of Tunisian Women Voters (French: LET) is organising on April 7-9 two training sessions for candidates standing in next May 6 municipal elections as part of party, independent and coalition lists in the governorates of Nabeul and Jendouba.
The move is intended to strengthen the capacities of women to run in elections and win seats in municipal councils and enhance inclusive governance and decentralisation, reads a LET press release.
The training sessions that will be held at LET leadership centres (Kelibia and Jendouba) address three main issues, namely the legal framework of local elections, the local authorities code for the decentralisation and devolution processes and the municipal election campaign.
This fits within LET’s European Union (EU)-funded project For an Inclusive and Participatory Democracy in Tunisia.
