Local Affairs Ministry, USAID ink letter of intent in decentralisation field

A letter of intent in the decentralisiation field was inked on Thursday in Tunis between the Local Affairs Ministry and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

The letter of intent aims to reinforce the decentralisation process in Tunisia through the co-ordination of co-operation between local communities and public stakeholders in the municipal action field, the ministry said on Friday in a press release.

The agreement also seeks to empower municipalities in the field of services and human resources management and development.

According to the same source, this four-year co-operation programme regards a priori 31 municipalities in 11 governorates.

The programme requires the mobilization of $49 million (118 million dinars), the press release added.
