Luxor African Film Festival (Tunisia): “Benzine”, “Beauty and the Dogs” and ” Sœurs courage “, selected in official competitions

Tunisia will be represented in the 7th edition of Luxor’s African Film Festival (16-22 March 2018) with two fictions “Benzine” by Sarra Labidi and “Beauty and the Dogs” by Kaouther Ben Hania, in addition to a film “Sœurs courage” documentary co-directed by Latifa Doghri and Salem Trabelsi, the festival’s management said in a statement released on Wednesday.

The film Benzine will participate in the feature film competition with 8 other films from Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Rwanda and South Africa.

The feature film “Beauty and the Dogs” by Kaouther Ben Hania has been selected to compete in the competition of freedom. This competition brings together 14 films from Tunisia, Algeria (“HORS CHEMIN” film co-directed by Julie Jouve and Rida Belghiat), Iraq (with two films “Violet” by Baqer Al-Rabieye and “PAIN ET FUMA�E” by director Ibrahim Ramadhan), in addition to Senegal, Uganda, Rwanda, United States, Italy, France, Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Canada and the Philippines.

Co-directed by Latifa Doghri & Salem Trabelsi, the film “Sœurs courage” competes in the “feature documentary” competition, with 7 other films representing Kenya, Congo, Morocco, South Africa and Liberia / the United States.

The festival management also indicated that the works participating in the short film competition will be announced in February 2018 as well as the schedule of the films that will be screened outside the official competitions.
